About the Artist Lon Kaufmann
For the last thirty years I’ve been a university professor of art and design at universities in the U.S.A., Bahrain, Jordan, and Ukraine. Between 2011-12, in Kyiv, Ukraine, I instructed a course funded by a Fulbright Scholar grant titled, “Web Design and Social Media”.
The course combined a historical overview of the history of the Internet, definitions of ‘Social Media’, and practical tutorial steps to building a website with social media functionality using the WordPress platform. Examples of student websites can be seen in the Student Portfolio slide galleries section. During Fall and Spring semesters, 2011-2012, this course was offered at The National Technical University of Ukraine; ‘Kyiv Polytechnic Institute’. In Fall semester 2012, it was instructed in the School of Journalism at the National University, ‘Kyiv Mohyla Academy’ in Kyiv, Ukraine.
In December 2012, I presented sessions on building WordPress sites to journalists and university faculty at the workshop, “The Digital Future of Journalism”, hosted by Kyiv Mohyla Academy. For the purpose of demonstrating how a news web site can serve as a community hub, I built the demo site, Our Region, Our Ukraine. Included on the site are examples of relevant social media functions; a forum, group chat rooms, a news format page, and blogging/comment areas. Links to my favorite online resources for building such a site using the WordPress platform, are listed on the DFJ/DMU Resources page.
My personal design work spans the mediums of metal sculpture, photo-montages, documentary photography, and web design. I invite you to visit my Portfolio menu tabbed page and explore the slide shows of my work. I welcome your comments, observations, and questions about my work.
- If you are a gallery director I would welcome the opportunity to discuss a visiting exhibit.
- If you are an art collector I would be happy to discuss the purchase cost of my work.
- If you represent a university Art and Design department in search of a colleague to instruct computer graphics and studio art, I would welcome a note from you. We could discuss your programs needs and my skill set to see if we feel there’s a mutually beneficial fit. By request I can forward a detailed Curriculum Vita.
All are invited to leave comments in the ‘Comments’ area below, send me an email message via the Contact the Artist page of this site, or to connect via the Social Media icon links to my Facebook or Linked in Accounts.
